Job Overview: The caseworker provides direct Reception and Placement services to newly arrived refugee, SIV, and parolee families in accordance with the IRC’s Cooperative Agreement with the U.S.
Department of State. Caseworkers will ensure that each client is provided core services from airport pick-up to 90 days after arrival and that clients are provided referrals to other IRC programming and external partners.
Major Responsibilities:
– Welcome assigned clients at airport.
– Collaborate with clients’ US based ties to coordinate welcoming families.
– Providing direct core services as per donor guidelines in the Cooperative Agreements.
– This includes applying for public benefits, applying for social security cards, gathering documents; coordinating medical appointments; completing self-sufficiency plans; cultural orientation; school enrollments; ESL enrollment; addressing all client concerns; communicating with whole resettlement team and other IRC programs to ensure core services are met
– Coordinate specialized service provision with other resettlement staff such as housing specialists, job training and employment staff, immigration, among others.
– Using Integra and Powerbi systems to record expenditures on behalf of assigned clients
– Using ETO case management software to write case notes and monitor clients’ progress
– Provide trauma-informed services to all RP and families.
– Attend team and office meetings, participate in collective team and office efforts, comply with all IRC and local office policies and practices.
– Other duties as assigned.
Work Experience:
– Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience strongly preferred
– Experience working with refugee and/or immigrant populations preferred
Qualifications:
– Lived experience as a refugee or immigrant is preferred
– English proficiency, both spoken and written, and professional proficiency in relevant languages (i.e., Dari, Pashto, Swahili, Kinyarwanda, Tigrinya, Arabic, Ukrainian, Russian) preferred
– Fluency in Microsoft programs and familiarity with financial systems preferred
– Effective time management skills and ability to focus and work productively in a fast-paced environment
– Excellent communication and organization skills
– Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle with current insurance and ability to travel regularly
Working Environment:
Standard, professional office environment; in-person, field and remote work required. Driving clients and to clients in personal vehicle or in IRC vans is required.
Compensation:
Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget.
Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.

The IRC offers a comprehensive and highly competitive set of benefits. All US employees are eligible for sick time, a 403b retirement savings plans: up to 4.5% immediately vested matching contribution, plus an 3-7% additional IRC contribution, and an Employee Assistance Program which is available to our staff and their families to support in times of crisis and mental health struggles.
In addition, full-time employees are eligible for 10 US paid holidays, 20-25 paid time off days, disability & life insurance, medical, dental, and vision insurance (employee contribution starting at $135, $7, and $5 per month respectively) and FSA for healthcare, childcare, and commuter costs. Part-time employees are eligible for a proportionate amount of paid time off. These additional benefits apply to employees who work at least 6 months within a 12 month time period.
